About the Role
Based in Whangarei, you will have overall responsibility for branch performance, with a strong focus on service workshop operations.
Working closely with the Managing Director and wider CAL Isuzu leadership team, you will:
- Lead the delivery of annual branch and departmental plans aligned with company strategy
- Drive service workshop performance, including WIP control (target ≤ $50K), invoicing, and profitability
- Monitor financial and operational performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
- Provide strong technical and people leadership across the workshop team
- Oversee efficient workshop processes including bookings, scheduling, job processing, and warranty management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies
About You
You’ll bring solid experience from within the truck or heavy automotive industry and understand what it takes to run a high-performing service operation.
You will have:
- Proven experience in a Branch Manager, Service Manager, or senior operational leadership role
- Strong knowledge of workshop operations, WIP management, and financial controls
- A hands-on, practical leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Commercial awareness and confidence interpreting reports and performance data
- Strong communication and decision-making skills

Our workshop has a consistent workflow, and hours can be varied to meet customer demand. We are particularly interested in candidates who can offer flexibility for evening and weekend work.
This full-time position is ideal for an experienced Heavy Diesel Technician or a light automotive technician looking to transition into heavy diesel. Training will be provided for the right applicant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults through repairs, overhauls, and adjustments
- Conduct test drives to verify vehicle performance
- Troubleshoot breakdowns efficiently and accurately

You will ideally have at least two years of retail parts sales experience, strong attention to detail, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
